I am the founder of Eight PR in Hong Kong and a senior public relations executive with over 30 years of experience. This is my personal website.
I was born in the UK and first visited Hong Kong in 1984. I returned in 1991 and started my PR career in a local public relations firm but wanted proper regional experience rather than learning behind a desk, so I packed up and moved to Malaysia in 1995. In 1999, I returned to Hong Kong for good!
In 2021, I founded Eight PR, a PR agency in Hong Kong, China.
I first visited China in 1987 traveling by train from Hong Kong to Guangzhou. In more recent times, I visit once or twice a month.
I have written and self-published ebooks on PR which are available in online bookstores and libraries.
I'm a self-confessed lover of all things tech, both B2B and B2C and, once upon a time, used to build my own gaming rigs. Then I switched to Mac and never went back.

In March 2024 I took and passed in Zhuhai, the China driving test. The HKSAR Government introduced this terrific initiative of Hong Kong plated cars being able to travel into (and only) the Greater Bay Area without the need of a China number plate. As long as the driver has a Hong Kong Driving Licence (I do), a valid visa (yes), a HK registered car with MOT if applicable (yes), a Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge permit (yes), China driving insurance (yes), road tax (yes), then you can apply for the scheme.
This wonderous initiative made me want to write a blog about the driving experience and so I started Eight Insights (www.eightinsight.com). However, on LinkedIn, I use the Eight Insights page to post infographics I've created; I don't do anything to promote the page and have plans to morph it into something else further down the line.

I want to be a published author. So I wrote a darn good yarn a 9 years ago and, every year since, I return to it and edit. It's more therapeutic than procrastination. I found an AI tool that reads manuscripts and provides an honest opinion about structure and character development; it did actually find some glaring errors which now need to be fixed. It took two minutes for the AI to scan 90,000 words and come up with a document outlining the good, the bad and the ugly.
